PROJECT Notes: 2010 Zayed Future Energy Prize

THE Brief

The soon-to-be unfettered global demand for energy is alarming. By 2030 the world’s energy needs will be 50% higher of what they are today. Carbon-dioxide emissions, the leading factor in global-warming, will increase by 57%. Over the next 30 to 50 years, gas, oil, and coal will continue to rapidly deplete. Within this current crisis buildings consume 30 to 40 percent of all the world’s energy, making architecture one of the most viable protagonists to effect change.

Working in tandem with Jürgen Mayer H. a 1500-word text was written to strategically position the innovative and smart technologies used in their polyurethane timber construction as one of the most viable methods for energy conservation. The text was submitted for the 2010 Zayed Future Energy Prize.
